2020 Federal and State Minimum Wage Rates

Today, the federal minimum wage is set at $7.25 per hour, where it’s been since 2009. The law requires non-exempt (employees who are paid hourly) to receive no less than that amount for each hour worked:
  • $5.15 – Sept. 1, 1997
  • $5.85 – July 24, 2007
  • $6.55 – July 24, 2008
  • $7.25 – July 24, 2009
